Brother Robert Weinmann, CSC, from Atchison, Kansas, joined the Congregation of Holy Cross in 1958. After recieving his BA degree from St.Edward’s University in 1966, Brother Robert journeyed to Brazil to serve the ministries of the Congregation in Santarem, Para, on the shores of the Amazon River, Petrolina, Pernambuco and Campinas, Sao Paulo. In 1974, Brother Robert earned a Fine Arts degree from the Catholic University of Campinas. In 1985, Brother Robert with the help of the parents at Colegio Notre Dame in Campinas, founded CECOIA, The Saint Brother Andre Community Center, to provide social services for children, ages six to seventeen. Through the years, Brother Robert has supported CECOIA through commissions received from his paintings. In 2009, he was awarded the Campinas for his many years of social service. Brother Robert has been painting since 1959. His colorful paintings, oil-on-canvas or wood, depict the people and places of Brazil.
